First monster appearance in the normal amnesia game (not the demo)?

i am playing amnesia: the dark descent, the actual game, not the demo, and i was wondering when the first monster appears. and maybe the second too? if the first one isn't really a threat or something. also if anyone who has played can tell me this and a sort of summary of what happens in the beginning portions of the game as far as monster encounters go? any help is appreciated!
