Why are my cherry barb fish turing bright red!??!?

ok well my light bulb burned out and i replaced it with a nightlight... after that my fish would stay at the bottum of the tank and they are turning bright red!! (they were helthy before the light)(and i dont know if the light is the casue or what) why are they turing bright red??? plz help?
