Is it good to keep phone on charger?

Im using wireless hotspot to see the internet on my laptop from my phone. I keep it on the charger because this drains battery quick. But it also charges the battery pretty quick and now its at 100% charge. Does the charger automatically stop charging the battery until it drops to 99% and it picks up again? Is it bad for battery? I have a LG G2x
