What problems could occur by using olive oil to lubricate an automobile/motorcycle engine?

Some older motorcycles (and First World War aircraft) used a total loss system, rather than olive oil they used castor oil – the total loss system meant the riders and pilots got to inhale the used castor oil with unfortunate results.
